JOYWORKS EVENTS: FAST BECOMING THE ORIGINAL WAY TO DE-STRESS
MONTHLY LAUGHTER WORKSHOPS
Using laughter yoga (simple tension releasing exercises based on mime and play) drama games and relaxation participants leave the session feeling energised connected and often on cloud nine!
Events are facilitated by Sharon Miller. She has just returned from India where she was invited to stay at Dr Kataria's home (the founder of Laughter Yoga) she visited the original laughter club founded in 1995 in Mumbai with Mrs. Kataria. Fifteen years on there are now 6,000 laughter yoga clubs all over the world. Joyworks is the first in Glasgow - now in its second successful year.
Sharon utilises twenty years extensive experience of working in the arts and education, rehabilitation and mental health for both government and non-government agencies to ensure high quality experiences to remember.
Come along for an original way to meet new people, to forget about physical pain, to alleviate depression, discover new techniques for work or for a fun way to invoke a natural high!
The most fascinating fact about a laughter workout is based on the scientific fact that our bodies can’t tell the difference between ‘real’ laughter and ‘fake’ laughter. So participants get all the physiological benefits of a good laugh, without comedy or humour.
I leave feeling good about the world and its people...A warm feeling of wellbeing hits me and I realise I’m glad I came tonight. I have giggled until my cheeks were sore, and enjoyed a raucous belly laugh or two. As I walk out into the night air I can still feel the warmth of Miller and her laughing strangers.
